Radio Laria with Chichi Nwokocha & Simone King Wednesday 5th October

This Spring Radio Laria brings you the voices, words and wisdom of Chichi Nwokocha and Simone King. Chichi Nwokocha (Cheech) is a vibrant, energetic writer, actor and producer. Simone King is a widely published poet whose live performances are compelling and enthralling. Tickets are $10 (full) or $5 (concession) and are available from:

Doors open 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 7:30.
Gig includes open mic where poets, storytellers and writers of all kinds are encouraged to share their work. All genders are welcome to read, sign up on the night, 10 slots available and 5 minute limit. The audience is very supportive and we welcome new readers.

Chichi Nwokocha

Chichi Nwokocha (aka Cheech) is a Nigerian British Artmaker specializing in, spoken word and theatre. She grew up immersed in the creative world, spending summers at the National Youth Theatre, spoken word events and Saturdays at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. In London, she produced and assistant produced several events at Theatre Royal Stratford East, including 2012 Olympic event shows, notably an evening with Wole Soyinka.

Simone King

Simone King (she/her) is a poet, writer and editor living on Wurundjeri country. Simone’s words have been published in Rabbit, Cordite, Plumwood Mountain, Right Now and Mascara. Simone won the 2022 Blake Poetry Prize and the 2021 Woorilla Poetry Prize. Simone coedited What we Carry: Poetry on Childbearing, Recent Work Press, 2021. She has spoken on panels and performed her poetry at Sydney Writers’ Festival and Queensland Poetry Festival.
